Prove you wrote it. Not prompted, not pasted — written.

AI detectors guess. Proofwriter records how you actually wrote it — and anchors the proof to the blockchain.

Write

A focused editor built for writers

Different themes for every kind of writer. Just you and the work — no distractions, no AI shortcuts.

Checkpoint

Mark your progress as you go

Set word count or timer goals. Milestones save automatically, or name your own along the way.

Proof & Share

One click to prove it was you

Anchors your document to the blockchain and creates a shareable link showing the writing and its full revision history.

Anyone can say they wrote something. Proofwriter exists because a fallible AI detector's false positive can end a career or a byline before you get the chance to explain yourself — it shows editors, publishers, colleagues, and professors that you did the work yourself.

When a false positive can end a career or a byline, that's the new McCarthyism.

Proofwriter creates a picture of your writing process over time — words per minute, checkpoints, time spent, sessions — as close as you can get to writing in front of someone. When you're done, Proof the page and share the document and its full revision history with a link. No sign-in required to view it, unlike Google Docs.

Instead of hiding rough drafts, use them to your advantage.

Every Proof connects to a decentralized blockchain notary, usually within 24 hours — any edit after the fact creates a mismatch anyone can spot. Use checkpoints and goals to give your drafting direction instead of writing into the void; Pro unlocks themes and advanced features.

Anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain — permanent, and not dependent on Proofwriter staying in business.

One of these was written by a human.

Can you tell the difference?

Rage against the machine

Tired of being told
you need help drafting?

Proofwriter is for those who purposefully eschew writing assistants and ignore the onslaught of so-called helpers powered by AI. It's not for AI-assisted content teams chasing volume — it's for the writer defending a single byline that's entirely theirs. This isn't a witch hunt for humanity. It's evidence, on your terms.

Brendan Clarey, founder of Proofwriter
Why I built this

I built Proofwriter because writers shouldn't need to just take an algorithm's word — or an editor's gut call — for what looks “too polished” to be human. Proofwriter records the process, not just the promise, so you have real evidence instead of an argument.

Proofwriter Points Out Pasting

Proofwriter isn't for people who want to pass off work someone else did as their own. It tracks pasting—and flags it when it happens. It invites curiosity and the origin story behind the text, offering detailed views of the real creative process.

Every Proof page is published under your display name — a pen name, your real name, or your professional identity. With artificial writing everywhere, get Proofwriter to stand behind your work.

The Writing

Proofwriter is the only distraction-free writing tool with authorship verification backed by the blockchain. Think Google Docs or Word but for proving your humanity and limitless writing…

Does this hold up?

The questions skeptics actually ask.

Can't someone just retype AI output into Proofwriter?+

Retyping is possible, but Proofwriter is built to make it visible, not invisible. Every paste is flagged and shown on the Proof page. Wholesale retyping also leaves a giveaway pattern — one long unbroken burst instead of the checkpoints, pauses, and revisions of someone actually drafting — and that timing pattern is part of what a verifier sees.

Will an editor or agent actually accept a Proof link?+

We can't promise that — no tool honestly can. What Proofwriter gives you is something to point to instead of just your word: a public page anyone can open in seconds showing the writing process, the revision history, and a Bitcoin-blockchain timestamp. It's real evidence, not a guarantee.

How do I verify someone else's Proof?+

Go to /verify and enter their Proof ID. You'll see the same public page they can share — the writing, the process, and the blockchain anchor — no sign-in required.

What happens if the text is edited after it's Proofed?+

The Proof anchors a cryptographic fingerprint of the finished piece to the blockchain. Any edit after that point changes the fingerprint, so a mismatch is detectable by anyone who checks.

Will my Proof link still work if Proofwriter shuts down someday?+

The blockchain anchor lives on Bitcoin, not on our servers, so the timestamp proof persists independent of Proofwriter staying in business. The hosted Proof page depends on us; the underlying anchor doesn't.

Draft here. Share anywhere.

Proofwriter is where you do the work—distraction-free, no AI suggestions, no one watching over your shoulder.

When you're ready to share, send your document straight to Google Docs in one click (Pro) or share the Proof ID. Anyone can use that to find a document.

Real writing starts here. Prove it to anybody, anytime.

Why Proofwriter, not a badge-minter

Two edges that are easy to miss.

A real editor, not a textarea

Some proof-of-process tools are a bare textarea bolted onto a recorder. Proofwriter is a distraction-free writing editor first — nine themes, word-count and timer goals, named checkpoints — that happens to produce a Proof when you're done. You're not switching tools to get the evidence.

Blockchain permanence, not a self-signed hash

Some tools back their proof with a hash they sign themselves — verifiable only because the company vouches for it. Every Proofwriter Proof is anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain, independently checkable by anyone, and not dependent on any one company staying in business.
