What Proofwriter is
Proofwriter is a writing editor that records your drafting process and produces a cryptographically timestamped proof page documenting your authorship. It is not a legal service and does not constitute legal advice. Proof pages are cryptographic evidence of process — they are not legal certificates of copyright or ownership.
Your account
You must provide a valid email address to use Proofwriter. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You may not share your account with others or use Proofwriter to process content on behalf of a third party without their knowledge.
Your writing
You retain full ownership of everything you write in Proofwriter. By using the service, you grant Proofwriter a limited license to store and display your content solely for the purpose of operating the service. When you Proof a document, its proof page becomes publicly accessible — you control when this happens.
Acceptable use
You may not use Proofwriter to store or publish content that is illegal, defamatory, or infringes on the rights of others. You may not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the service. Proofwriter is intended for genuine human-authored writing.
Pro subscription
Proofwriter Pro is billed monthly or annually through Stripe. A 14-day free trial is included — you will not be charged until the trial ends. You may cancel at any time before the trial ends at no cost. Refunds after billing are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact help@proofwriter.app.
Blockchain anchoring
When you Proof a document, a SHA-256 hash of your content is submitted to the Bitcoin blockchain via OpenTimestamps. This record is permanent and cannot be removed. The hash contains no personal information and cannot be used to reconstruct your writing.
Availability
Proofwriter is provided as-is. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
